I start Vista install by booting it's DVD. The installer only sees some of my RAID partitions. I don't know which one to pick I test the first one on the list.
When I go back to the drive screen, it lists fewer partitions than it did before, although it shows the drive I want to install on which is unpartitioned. But when I select it and click next, setup reports that it could not verify that I have a system volume, and setup is cancelled. What am I doing wrong? This is the way it was under XP, too. Maybe the Deluxe was a "legacy" setup and the "Premium" is not? Anyway, once Vista was installed, I followed your instructions to go into the Device Manager, one by one, and update each drive to v9. The system rebooted fine. Yes, I had read on a lot of posts not to let that happen. But unfortunately I'm new to Vista, and since the way it prompted me to allow it to upgrade the drivers threw me off and I wasn't thinking for a minute.
Once Vista had "updated" the drivers, I realized what happend and refused to let it reboot. I then went into device manager and updated the "Vista updated" drivers back to v9. Then I rebooted. I will have to wait another 12 hours or so to try this Vista install again. The good news is that this nuking of the system will give me another chance to try your again-updated drivers.
Now, the v9. I downloaded those drivers about 12 hours ago.
