If so, try changing this to a left outer join. Edited by DBlank - 26 Oct at pm. If your links are set as "Not Enforced" and you are not using any fields from your failuremark table it is likely not being included in the join process. If when you add any field form this table in a formula, select statment, or just to the report canvas as you described rows disappear from the report it is because it is now enforcing the join and dropping records that are not matched in the table linking processes.
Is this a valid description of what is happening? If not, can you describe what is happening? Posted: 27 Oct at am. Thanks for your time and help DBlank. Try This I think you may have misunderstood my question, or I didn't explain myself. In 4 it should do the calculation. I think what darwin is saying is that your syntax is a little off. I copied it exactly as is and it keeps telling me I'm missing " " after the first set of "".
Try it without them. Are you declaring the variables in your formula? OK - what output does this produce? Hmm, my brain is taking a holiday today. Hmm, I pasted that into CR 8.
I have gotten pulled off on some other things. A returned null value can be very powerful, so your need for a null value should not be questioned. Null values automatically display differently to stand out. Compared to 0 or "", null values work correctly with DistinctCount function. Null values also work correctly with section summaries and crosstabs, which can save you a lot of work which is the whole point of using crystal.

That is actually how I first learned to use it a few ; years back. I try to steer them away from program designs that unnecessarily leave blanks laying around in the data, but some are inevitable I suppose.
Anyway IsNULL does not help me much with the blanks - it's more of an accompaniment to blank handling. It is often easier to use default values you don't then have to check for NULL. I believe a query like that would need to be "advanced" and written in SQL from within the report builder. But i don't get the proper result that i am looking for. Can somebody help me figuring the correct formula please. Mark - the below is a bit convoluted and i think redundant, but it should cover most situations.
I am looking at benefit expiration dates. I a selection formula that ONLY returns those records, which do not have an expiration date. What formula am I looking for? Bhvesh Patel info pcubeweb.
